The Southernmost Point of the United States! Yay, now i can say I've been there. The scenery was so unbelievably beautiful. People don't talk about the beach at all when they talk about the Southernmost Point. But it was the most beautiful natural coral beach. It was so beautiful. I've never been to a coral beach before. If I knew about the beach, I would have had a better plan to spend more time here. I would love to come back here if I can.
Beautiful area! It’s quite remote, requires 30+ min of driving off the main beltway through gorgeous rural area to access. Dirt areas where you can park. You can walk down towards the rocky beach (the waves were pretty extreme when I visited, I would advise to stay out of the water unless you’re a local who knows what you’re doing), look at a few monuments scattered around, see the cliff jumping platforms, etc. Also saw some folks with ATVs, the trails nearby look like they would be pretty fun. There is a well-marked burial site a short walk away (close to the “true” southern extreme of the area) so please be respectful and keep out. Sunsets from here are lovely!
Beautiful spot , but a little strange that there is a sign from the main road saying South Point and when you down there a sign says you can't enter , despite everyone going to the spot and there is pretty much nothing but you knowing it's the most southern spot in the US and the beautiful view.
Taking the other road people want to upsell you on a 20$ ride to the green beach. We saw several people start the walk instead.
We opted not to go as the pick up sitting option looked to ruff for my mother.
Came here a few years ago and jumped off when the locals where there doing it. I brought my wife with me today. The water was too rough to jump but still has a great view. There’s a hole in the ground behind the platform you can jump off. If you jump into that hole, aim for the middle and away from the rocks. Swim back out to the ocean and climb back up the ladder. The ladder sways and isn’t attached at the bottom. I’d only recommend this if you’re a strong swimmer.
THIS IS A MUST. It was super easy to drive and park here (no fwd needed) then you can walk around the grounds. Absolutely stunning.
Visited Dec 2023.
About 15 min walk from the parking spot. Went there in the late afternoon after visiting Green Sand Beach. There is no mark for this point, but you can follow the GPS to get to this exact spot. The view was stunning in the late afternoon.
This remote section of the island is filled with beautiful views, and powerful waves. It's a little bit of a walk from the parking area so bring water with you if it's a hot day.
I don't know if it was just us who had bad weather, meaning, if it is always so windy there or if we just had bad luck. A place where you will always meet some fishermen or daring jumpers who will entertain you with their stunts and cliff jumping. Only for the bravest!
